Adolphe Blanc , 1828 (Manosque, France)‒1885 (Paris). Blanc studied violin at the Paris Conservatoire when only 13; he studied composition with Fromental Halévy. His style retained classicism, his works lie in the tradition of Hausmusik. He composed mostly chamber music, but also wrote pieces for voices and for orchestra. The musical life of mid-19th century Paris revolved around the opera, and Blanc did very little in the field. For a time, he was a conductor at Paris’ Théâtre Lyrique.
