I always thought the Mahler First would make a good band piece. Call me crazy.
Gustav Mahler , 1860/07/07 (Kalischt, Bohemia)‒1911/05/18 (Vienna). Composer and conductor; pupil of the Conservatories and Universities of Prague and Vienna, with Bruckner as one of his teachers. 1897-1907, Conductor, then director, of Viennese court opera; 1907-1911, conductor, New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Composed many large orchestral works, many with vocal soloists and chorus.
Piccolo, Flutes, Oboe (opt.), Bassoon (opt.), Clarinets 1 and 2, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone 1 and 2, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Harp (opt.), Cornets 1 and 2, French Horns 1 and 2, Trombones 1 and 2, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion (at least 2).
