Leopold Mozart , 1719 (Augsburg)‒1787 (Salzburg). Violinist and deputy Kapellmeister to the ruling Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. Author of an extremely sucessful violin method. Moderately successful composer of chamber music, symphonies, concertos, oratorios, along with a great deal of theatrical items, pantomimes, Turkish music, and a musical sleigh ride. Also had two surviving children: Maria Anna Walburga Ignatia (called Nannerl) and Johann Chrysostomus Wolfgang Theophilus (called, you know…).
